This Thursday was packed with important news both nationally and locally. President Donald Trump had just been impeached for the second time and the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine was still hitting major snags. Some Republican lawmakers, including Representatives from the Mid-South, are joining in the President's efforts, with an incoming challenge during the Electoral College certification.
11/12/18 Morning Newscast
This was a great day for news, there were several major stories including the recounts happening in Florida and Georgia and the fires in California. I decided to start the show with the recounts instead of the wildfires since the midterms were so highly anticipated. I also had several political stories to follow up the recounts. After the political news I worked in the fires with the first, "Right Now," hit. I thought the A block flowed very well using transitional animations where needed. I also believe I picked the most news worthy stories for the, "Top 8," segment at the end of the show.

For my Senior Capstone I worked as a different type of producer. Instead of creating a local newscast, I worked on an online/Roku/Amazon Fire TV show called Post. The show works with the organization Investigative Reporters and Editors as well as the Reynolds Journalism Institute to showcase good journalistic work. For my episode, I wanted to focus on documentary journalism. With the continual rise in popularity of documentaries, I thought it would be a interesting topic to cover. I was able to find four phenomenal documentaries to include in the show, including Netflix's Evil Genius. Overall, I thought the show turned out great and was happy with how visual I was able to make the show.
